Robbie is 6 months!! Well he actually turned 6 months on Friday, but I wanted to wait until he got weighed to make this post. So today we trotted off to the doctor, to determine that Robbie is a nice healthy 18lbs and is very tall at over 27 inches. The doctor also commented, as most people do, at how pleasant Robbie is. It is amazing how good natured he is, rarely crying, and almost always smiling. He is certainly a people person, he loves to watch people and especially his big sister. The doctor actually said... "I see a lot of babies, but I've never seen one this happy". What could I say to that, I just gave Robbie a big hug and kiss, and guess what he did... he smiled :-)

So what is Robbie up to at 6 months. Well he is starting to sit, not good enough that I can leave him alone, but it shouldn't be too long now. He is also moving all over the place by rolling, and is getting up on his hands and knees, however I suspect it will be another month before he crawls. He really doesn't get that much time to practice as he can't be left on the floor while Charlotte is on the loose. So he spends most of his waking hours in the Jolly Jumper, which suits him fine. Infact while we were in Cape Breton I had a feeling that he was missing his Jumper, and would jump in anyones arms that would hold him. Then when we finally got home, and he saw his jumper hanging in the kitchen he flipped out. I put him in and he JUMPED, JUMPED, JUMPED for close to an hour. While away, I was missing my bed, he was missing his jumper!

Robbie is also bang on for all his other milestones. As for teeth, zero... if I remember James and Charlotte both got theirs around 6.5 or 7 months so I'm sure they are coming. He still is not sleeping thru the night, and wakes any where from 2 to 4 times a night. I acutally think early 2003 was the last time that I actually got a full nights rest (no I am not exaggerating). I know I don't have to feed Robbie thoughout the night now, but it is so hard to ignore your own baby. All he really wants is a cuddle and a snuggle from his mom.
As a family we have made a huge move, and all for Robbie. Soon he will have his own room. Last year we changed James's room into a TV/Playroom, and this past weekend we've made it Robbie's room. It isn't finished yet, as I have some finishing touches to do, but I'll get around to it. There are many, many emotions surrounding this move so I can only do it in little stages. Right now Robbie is still in our room, and he will remain there for a little while until I can muster up the strength to move him. This is not new, Charlotte was 11 months before she slept in her own room at night. But at least he has his own space, and we will begin naps in his room shortly. Lets just hope I don't mess up his nap schedule as he is quite a good napper.
Lastly here is our beautiful Prince at 6 months eating a peas and carrots. He is certainly a Hudson and can EAT... that is if would just sit still long enough for me to get it in his mouth.

Here are some photos of things we've been up to.

Charlotte in her big girl bed. She was so excited that I didn't even get the chance to finish making it. Throwing rocks in Cape Breton
A little cuddle while Charlotte watches Dora (she LOVES Dora)
Lunch with Grandad before he leaves for home
Grandad teaching Charlotte how to garden... I hear green thumbs skip a generation. Hopefully Charlotte will take after her Grandad and not her parents.

Yesterday we went for a picnic with friends at the park

As many people know we participate in the Cabot Trail Relay every year to honour our beloved James. This past weekend was the race weekend and we travelled up to Cape Breton with family and friends for the event. It is a wonderful weekend, for so many reasons. First we need to thank all the runners on our team, as well as their families who come to support the race. This year my mom, my aunt Brenda, and my cousin Ian all came from Sask, as well as Mike's dad from England. The Cabot Trail Relay is also an amazing event because there are some portions of it that are down right gruelling and becuase of this all 66 teams cheer and support eachother more than in anyother event I've ever seen. It sends chills up my spine sometimes to think of the camaraderie along the race. And of course this weekend is special for our team (Team Blowing Kisses) because we all run in honour of James. He truely is still part of our lives, each and every day, and it is important to us that he is remembered and honoured.

Well here are some pictures from the race... the camera was acting up (or so Mike tells me) so we don't have many, but I hope you enjoy the ones we do have.

I should also take a quick moment to acknowledge another team at the race this year. In 2007 there was a member of the Canadian SIDS Foundation at the finish line. She was so impressed with the race that the foundation entered their own team this year. Team Baby’s Breath was unique in their own way, they had runners representing every province, and territory, making them a truly national team. I am moved by team Baby’s Breath because not only were some of the runners SIDS parents like me and Mike, but because of all the support Mike and I have received over the past 4 years it has inspired the SIDS Foundation to enter the Cabot Trail and take it a step further to a successful national fundraising initiative raising $30,000. My hat is off to Team Baby's Breath.

My last point about the Cabot Trail Relay is that if anyone wants to run next year (and believe me, it is an event you will not regret) just let us know. Words and photo's just cannot give do the event justice, and what a prouder way to run than in James's memory.
