I fear that my blog may soon become boring (if it wasn’t already). See working 5 days a week doesn’t leave much to report. Get up, Go to work/daycare, Come Home, Eat Supper, Go to Bed… Get up and do it again… and again… That is about it, so really this lull between Halloween and Christmas is a good time to give updates on the kids.
Charlotte: Is growing up before my eyes. It is going so fast, everything from the way she moves to how she speaks changes every week. She has always had her own opinions but now speaks her mind. Like the other night at supper when I was telling a story about Leprechauns painting rainbows. Well Robbie thought this was very intriguing and then Charlotte peeps up. “Mommy that’s not right” so I responed “Then how are rainbows made?” in a tone that made me feel stupid and her proud all at the same time she said “With Rain and Sun!” my next response was “You are very clever Charlotte, but I still like my rainbow painting Leprechauns”. Another time at supper. Yes Supper is now my favorite meal, it used to be breakfast but I’m out of the house before breakfast. Anyway, the kids ate a great meal, and I mentioned how well they ate. Charlotte then asked “Who ate the most?” I said “Robbie”. She pondered this for a few seconds and asked “Who ate the most meat?” I said “You”. She broke into a sing song voice and looked at her brother “I ate the most meat… Ha Ha” . Good thing Robbie could have cared less, I think he was just excited for Apple Crumble.
Robbie: I cannot stress enough how much energy this boy has. He is constantly moving and now makes sound effects all the time… be it a plane, a car, a horse, or some strange peep sound I can’t identify he is always moving and making noise. On top of that he is LOUD!!! His voice carries across a room in such a way that you know 100% he is a Hudson. He just cannot figure out the proper indoor volume, and if genetics rain true, he never will. The other thing that is virtually impossible for him is walking. He runs or crawls (he regresses to a baby about once a day) everywhere. And when I insist he walks it is very laboured and not comfortable for him. A funny recent story about Robbie is last Saturday night I was on the couch reading a book to Charlotte and Robbie when he announced he needed the toilet. So he launched himself off the couch took off running, the area rug slipped out from under him, causing him to fall. Charlotte and I started to giggle. Robbie stood up as fast as lighting, continued to run down the hall hurdled over a plastic bowl from our tea set landed, rolled on the floor got up. Charlotte and I continued to laugh he then sprinted into the bathroom, did his thing. He came out of the bathroom, ran down the hallway towards us, jumped the bowl again, sprinted across the living room launched himself into the air and crash landed on the couch. I finished the story, then told the kids that tomorrow we were going to skating. Robbie said to me “I don’t like skating” I asked him why and he told me he doesn’t like to skate because he falls down. I looked at him dumbfounded and said “But Robbie you just fell twice on the way to the bathroom”.
Mary-Anne: My littlest babe is getting so big now, 21lbs. The days of snuggling with a little one that fits perfectly in my arms is over (sniff, sniff). She now squirms to get down, explore and find trouble. She loves to watch everything. For instance Robbie’s Stunt Man trip to the bathroom… she was there, sitting on the floor watching all the action. As long as there is action she is quite happy. Robbie makes her laugh, well Robbie makes everyone laugh. But Mae is the only one who doesn’t get frustrated with Robbie and laughs at him every time. She is telling us stories of DaDa and MaMa and BaBa. She is beginning to stand without assistance, if only for a few seconds. She sleeps now quite well and only wakes once a night, and really enjoys her days with Grandma. It is good because she gets 3 days a week of one on one attention. Something that she just doesn’t get at home and certainly wouldn’t get at daycare. The big kids adore her, (as long as she leaves Robbie’s cars alone) and I do spend a lot of time referring as they are pretty rough with her, but she’s tough… she has to be.
Mike and I are fine. Mike heads to Ottawa next week, which will be rough as he does a lot in the mornings with the kids and gets them off to school. Something I’m not used to doing. There as been a change in Mike’s schedule which is great for our family. He no longer works evenings. I don’t know if it is a permanent change but for now it seems like it AND we get to have regular family meals. Something we never had before. He still works weekends and has to travel but to have him home fairly regularly Sunday to Thrusday nights is great. For me I’m nearly done training for my ½ marathon. I have less than 3 weeks until the race and am pretty much finished all my high mile runs. Training was difficult for obvious reasons, and I didn’t do as much as I ideally wanted to do. But I should finish and really look forward to a weekend with my girlfriends from out west.
That is our updates. Sorry I’ve taken no new photos, I’ll get some soon.
