The baby that I was sure would be born on St.Patrick's day, except for the fact that she decided to be born in 28minutes flat, has now turned 6. It was a tough delivery, and just as I had to work to get her out, she had to work to enjoy turning 6. The poor dear was sick, sick, sick. She started on Monday with the fever and lethargy. We took her to the doctor as I was sure it was Strep Throat again. But he claimed no, so for the next few days she layed on the couch alternating between, coughing, blowing her nose and vomitting. Finally on Friday, her birthday she said she wanted stick with our plan and go to the Lorax. She seemed better, with more energy, no fever... it wasn't until I sold my left arm to the movie theater that I realized we made the wrong decision. But her friend was there, her brother was excited and the movie theater had turned my next house payment into popcorn so we went and watched the Lorax. We L-O-V-E-D it! The second part of the plan was to go a restraunt for supper. I told Charlotte we would go home and do supper another day. No, my tropper wanted to celebrate her birthday. Here is a sign the birthday girl should be home in bed. When the waiter asked "What is the Birthday Girl going to have", the answer was "Chicken Soup". Oh dear. She worked hard to enjoy her day, she liked her presents, she only ate half of her soup and tried her best to love when the restraunt staff sang Happy Birthday, but ulitmatly she needed her bed. Which is exactly where she landed. That BIG day, has now set her back. She has spent all of St. Patrick's day resting, and could hardly enjoy the naughty leprechan who made his visit again. Robbie though got a kick out of all the things this leprechan did, including fill up our leprechan trap with Jelly Beans. After resting all day I hope she is better tomorrow, otherwise we will be back at the doctor. The good news is that we had already post-poned her birthday party to later in the month as it was March Break at school, and many of her friends were away.
Last weekend, we went to our friend John-Micheal's birthday. He had the reptile guy come to his party. The kids got to see everything from spiders, snakes, lizards, snapping turtles, scorpions.... very fun!
Robbie with a Tarantula
Charlotte with a Gecko
Charlotte with some type of constrictor.
I just have to show this photo, Robbie is wearing my grandpa's hat... love it! As you can see he is hard a work, fixing an old shelf. What a kid!
And we can never forget Mae... no pictures of her with the reptiles, she was at home napping with Daddy. That might have been a good thing, she can be so crazy at times, she makes Robbie look calm.
200th Post!
Wow, this is my 200th post... and that doesn't event count all the posts I did on the Adventures of Charlotte, or my other failed attempt at a blog, Running on Empty (a blog about being a mom of 3, working full time and training for 1/2 marathons). Ironic thing about that blog, I didn't have time to keep it updated. As you can tell I barely have time to keep this one updated. If I felt like I didn't have time before, now I am working overtime and if I do have free time after on an evening I am trying to do a digital book on our trip to Disney. But today there is no room for excuses, today was Mary-Anne's 2nd Birthday Party so I have to share the photos. In this house, Mae's party was a small affair, but nice and sweet. So what is Mae like at 2?? Seh is amazing, sweet, energetic, determined, and set in her ways. I just hope she gets on a good track in life, becasue she doesn't strike me as the flexible willing to change type of kind of personality. But who can blame her, holding her own is a survival skill she needed to learn very young. On Saturday I had her in to get her 2 year photos, and did we have to work for them. This little girl beats to her own drum. Conforming and sitting where all the other kids sit, no way! She was going to sit where she wanted, do what she wanted and was more than willing to tell you what she thought of the whole photo session. But not in an angry way, she wasn't mad or shy, she was just doing her own groovy thing and nothing was going to alter her plan. We got a half decent photo and that is all I wanted.
Here are the photo's of her birthday. She adores Elmo, so I made her an Elmo cake. The rest of the party the kids just roamed the house and spent time playing.
This pic, it really true to Mae's personality. At daycare she hangs out with Robbie and his buddies, who are much older than she. (Lordy help us in a few years). But she was perfectly comfortable playing basketball with the boys, Robbie, Drake and Jonah.
Meanwhile, Charlotte and Syd were upstairs playing girly games.
Mae loves to colour... so I set up a colouring station.
Lunch time...
Cake time...
Present time...
So proud of her new rainboots from grandma.
Daddy helping Mary-Anne morph into a Ladybug.
Playing with her new pots and pans
Bedtime and reading her new book.
Here are some random photos of other moments since my last post.
Charlotte and her friends decorating Valentine cupcakes.
Robbie and Mae, taking a close look at the Lobsters.
I went into the girls room one night and this is what I saw. Charlotte was in Mae's bed, I'm guessing she was helping Mae go to sleep. Worked like a charm, they were both out.
Colonel, just wanting to be part of the action got more than he bargined for.
Who is that masked boy?
This winter has been a big disappointment for snow, but the few days that we get snow are fun. But unfortuantly it is short lived as the rain usually comes shortly after and washes it all away.
